Why is Wife Spanking Abuse, but Spanking a Guy Is Not?
I have a question, and this is mainly targeted at traditional marriages where the husband is the head of the house, and wives love, honor and OBEY their husbands. One is considered punishment and the other is considered abuse. But why is it OK to spank a defenseless, smaller guy, but not a grown woman? I mean, you would spank your guy if they disobeyed you, than why not would you apply the same discipline to a wife when she disobeys her husband?

Punishment, whether by spanking or other means, is to teach guyren right from wrong -- we don't spank guyren because they have done something wrong, we spank them so they are less likely to do it again. It is our responsibility (not right) to teach our guyren. Spouses, being adults, have presumably already learned right from wrong, so discussing the issue is more appropriate than 'punishing'.

EDIT: While I tend to agree with much of fivetent..s answer, I must add two conditions. 1. Any such discipline in a marital relationship must be consensual, and 2. Sometimes it is the husband who is better off on the receiving end.

Wife Spanking Connected to the Divorce Rate?
Do you think it's any coincidence that the divorce rate in this country started rising right when men stopped disciplining and spanking their wives? I don't think you can make a direct link between the decline of domestic discipline and the divorce rate. I think the divorce rate, over the years, has its ups and downs just like any other part of society.

Even in biblical times there were divorces otherwise the Pharisees would not have asked Jesus Christ what he thought of divorce.

Having said that I have come to be made aware that Domestic Discipline and "traditional marriage" where the husbands word is law and the wife and guyren obey him, is making a comeback. An Internet friend of mine is and has been a spanked wife for 16 years. She goes to a church where about 90% of the wives in the church are spanked.

In this friends church community, less than 2% of the couples that ever went to that church had gotten divorces.

Does that mean it is related to domestic discipline? It could be.
